Normann Copenhagen’s Cognac glass combines classic function with modern design. The glasses are constructed to highlight Cognac’s aroma and their design yields the optimal temperature and volume.
These glasses also make great table decor pieces (fill with water and a single flower head) and we have even head of customers eating out of them.
Designer Rikke Hagen explains the idea in the back of the Cognac glasses:
“I wanted to craft a cognac glass. The very best gift to the man, who has the whole lot. The inspiration springs from my own perception of when you drink a cognac; that may be when you’ve got time and in calm surroundings. I wanted the glass to give the user a feeling of a gentleman’s study and at the same time, the sense of calmness you get when you e.g. fondle a stone. The stem kept irritating me. I took the consequence and cut it off. That’s how my Cognac glass was once born.”
Jan Anderson and Poul Madsen teamed up to create the Normann Copenhagen brand in 1999 with a vision to make a difference in the design industry. Three years later, they launched the first product, the lamp Norm 69. Normann Copenhagen has since released more than 38 products that feature traditional design materials with non-traditional usage. With a flagship store in Copenhagen, Normann Copenhagen is likely one of the best of its kind.
